Joseph Michael Madden, Jr., age 85, of North Hanover, passed away on Sunday October 16, 2016 at Samaritan Hospice in Mt. Holly. He was born in Trenton and graduated from Trenton High in 1949. Shortly after graduation, Joseph married the love of his life, Evelyn Hutchinson in 1951. He also served as a United States Army CPL during the Korean War. After his discharge, Joseph was anxious to get back home to his new wife and start a family. He was very much a family man, dedicated and as loyal as they come. He had an eye for photography and continued with his art into his later years, often taking photos of the beauty that came from his garden. Joseph loved to grow vegetables and flowers; and was known for opening up his garden to those in the community. He was very giving, outgoing and loving. Joseph liked being involved in community politics acting as an advocate for others, going to parties and mostly spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Joseph is predeceased by his parents Joseph Madden Sr. and Helen Madden (Williams). He leaves behind his adored wife of 65 years, Evelyn Madden. He also leaves behind his 2 daughters, Deb Robertson and her husband Michael of Westampton and Diane Hill and her husband Robert of Phillipsburg; 5 grandchildren, Jennifer Howse and husband Benjamin, Richard Freeman and wife Alexandra, Dominick Hill, Meghan Hill and Robert Hill Jr.; 1 great-grandson Christian Alexander Freeman; as well as several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 2:30PM at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 350 Provinceline Road, Wrightstown NJ 08562. A visitation will take place on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.TilghmanFH.com). In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Joseph’s memory to the United Ostomy Association of American via their website http://www.ostomy.org.
