Mrs. Ruth “Pinky” Gokey, of Wrightstown, NJ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at the age of 97. Ruth was born to parents Harry and Alice Robinson in Elizabeth, NJ on November 17, 1919. She grew up as the youngest of five children. In 1941, she married Robert Gokey and the couple had three children. Ruth was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She also worked at various jobs and particularly enjoyed working with the veterans at the VA Hospital in Menlo Park, NJ. She proved to be a strong woman during war time with her husband in the Army/Air Force during WWII, her son Robert in the Navy during the Cuban Crisis and son William also in the Navy during the Viet Nam War. She had a fierce sense of humor and always made everyone welcome into her home. Ruth is predeceased by her beloved husband Robert E. Gokey in 2015. She is survived by her two sons, Robert and his wife Patricia of Wrightstown NJ and William and his wife Karen of Ormond Beach FL; her daughter, Judith Livermore of Milford NJ; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held for both Ruth and Robert on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 10:00AM at the Church of the Assumption Chapel, located at 76 Evergreen Road, New Egypt, NJ 08533. Inurnment will follow at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11:00AM.
