George W. Ivins, age 74, of Cookstown died Sunday, April 8 at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly. Born in North Hanover Twp., he was a lifetime area resident. George was a retired Maintenance Foreman with the North Hanover Township schools. He was a life member and past chief of the Cookstown Vol. Fire Co., a former Township Committeeman in New Hanover Township for over 20 years and he was a former police officer for New Hanover Township. Brother of the late Kenneth E. Ivins, Mary Bennett and Helen Ivins, George is survived by his wife, Verna (nee Miller) Ivins; a son and daughter-in-law, George & Karen Ivins; a daughter and son-in-law, Jo Anne & Michael Ream all of Cookstown; a sister, Edna Drayton of Browns Mills; 2 grandsons, Walter and Joseph Ivins and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on Friday, April 13 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with Rev. William Walker, officiating. Interment will follow in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery in Jacobstown. Calling hours will be on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
