Obituary of Donald K. Verellen

Donald K. ?Doc? Verellen, Sr., age 79, of Wrightstown died Monday, April 23 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. Born in Bay City, MI, he had lived in Wrightstown for the past 40 years. Doc was a retired Tech Sergeant with the Air Force, having served 23 years. He also retired from the State of NJ after 19 years as a Resident Living Specialist at the New Lisbon Colony in New Lisbon. Doc was a medic in the Air Force, serving in Korea and Viet Nam. He was a member of the Church of the Assumption in New Egypt, was a fireman and honorary Chief with the New Lisbon Fire Co., he was an avid bowler and loved to fish. Doc also enjoyed CB Radio and camping and belonged to the Good Sam Camping Club. He is survived by his wife, Helen Verellen; two sons and a daughter, Donald K. Verellen, Jr. of Biloxi, MS, Debra & Mark McAleer of Delanco, NJ and Michael & Johanna Verellen of Pensacola, FL; his grandchildren, Joan, Damon, Maura, Michael, DJ, Karlyn, Drew, Jason and Matthew and his great grandchildren, Dominic and Danielle. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 25 at 8:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com). Calling hours will be on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment services and burial will be held on Friday, April 27 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road in Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Doc?s memory may be made to the Church of the Assumption Building Fund, 76 Evergreen Road, New Egypt, NJ 08533.
