Well where do I begin! Dad and I always shared a passion for sports, and the holidays, especially Christmas! We would have endless chats about his favorite Boston teams : the Red Sox, Celtics, Bruins, and Pats! Naturally, being a Jet fan, I couldn't stand the Pats and pretty boy Brady! : ) However, on the flip side, not sure Dad ever got over the Mets beating the Sox in the 1986 world series (courtesy of Bill Buckner error). However, it was really all in good fun. Also - loved to chat about golf matches, especially matches that were extremely close! It was only fitting that the recent Masters Tournament went to sudden death over time! Dad would have loved that! And Christmas was always special, decorating, and messing with the lites! Felt like Chevy Chase in Christmas vacation! So many amazing holiday memories. I miss you every day when I check scores of my favorite teams, occasionally picking up the Post to check the standings, including the Red Sox! And of course Christmas will never be the same without your spirit and craziness. We miss and love you Dad, but I think of you every single day!

My grandfather...Dzia-Dzia, was always there for me. He took me horseback riding and bowling, and was there for me at both my junior and senior proms, taking photos with us while dressed in his Amvets attire. Once, when I was thrown from my horse, he made sure I was okay and took me breakfast anyway. He liked to go to a small coffee shop located around the corner from our house.

April 15, 2025 Dear Uncle Eddie/AKA 2nd Dad, Uncle Ed, if I could write a letter to you, it would be this; I’d thank you for always treating me as though I were someone very special. Always referring to me as your “third daughter” and letting me know you truly meant it. I’d thank you for all the love, interest, and caring you bestowed on me. I’d thank you for always checking on me when I was sick or going through a tough time. I’d thank you for taking time out of your busy life to take trips to visit us. I'd thank you for organizing all the precious family reunions so our family stayed in touch with each other and shared our lives. You taught me how important family is in life. I learned that lesson and raised my kids and grandkids to do the same. And they all do. I’d thank you for making my daughter Dina a twinkle in your eye. From the time we lived with you in Trenton, NJ when she was a baby (6 months old) until she grew up to the lovely woman she is today. You were special to her as I know she was to you. She anticipated and loved your visits. I’d thank you for being proud of me and being an encouragement to me when I entered the workforce and worked my way up to be a VP in the investment industry. You drilled into me that although I never went to college or even finished high school, I was smart and could do it! And I did! I’d thank you for all your stories you’d share with me and my family. One of our favorite things to do when you came to visit us was to sit around the kitchen table, in awe, and listen to your stories. I’d thank you for teaching my grandson Nico how to play chess. He loved learning it and playing the game with you. He was a young kid and you always made him feel like he was smart and grown up. You were a very special Great-Uncle to him. I’d thank you for being an inspiration to us all on the importance and commitment to marriage and how to stick it out in bad times and enjoy and rejoice in the good times. You traveled a rocky road as we all have at times, but you never complained and persevered. A tremendous example of unconditional love. I’d thank you for showing me and my family the importance and blessing of being privileged to be an American. You went above and beyond working with veterans. Our country thanks you for your military service, even when you were no longer a serviceman! USA all the way, that was you. I can go on and on, but I think everyone who knew you, knew you to be a special human being and to leave this world a better place to go home to be with the Lord and be reunited with your beloved Rachel. I envision you both as young and vibrant and so very happy together in paradise. Uncle Eddie, I will carry you in my heart for the rest of my life. With love and respect, Your 3rd daughter Tricia

Grandpa “Dzia Dzia”, you were a huge part of my life and given me so many incredible memories. Some of my favorite memories were playing croquet everywhere we went, taking me to the Baseball Hall of Fame, cheering for me at my baseball games, letting me use your tools (unsupervised ha) in your workshop, and best of all the amazing family memories you built over the years. Your love and commitment to making the most of every single day has driven me to be the best son, husband, and father I can be - I will forever look up to you. Love and miss you Dzia Dzia. You were the best grandpa and great grandpa we can ever ask for.

March 11, 2025 Today I lost my Grandpa (Dzia Dzia). My grandpa passed away early this morning, and I want to share a few words about him. He was a man who loved his country deeply, more than anyone I know. His love for bald eagles and the American flag was unwavering. He fought for his country and remained dedicated to the military until the end of his life, even serving as the commander of his AMVETS post in New Jersey. I feel incredibly lucky to have had a grandpa with whom I could spend time with on vacations and family events. I often DJed at his Amvet spaghetti dinners, which he hosted with such pride. We even shared a glass of bourbon or two together, creating memories I will always cherish. He loved his whiskey. My grandpa faced many struggles, but I’ve never met anyone who fought as hard as he did. He was not only strong but also incredibly cool, always ready for a good laugh. He was the one who organized our family trips and vacations, and he loved being behind the wheel with his family by his side. We shared amazing adventures and explored much of the country together when I was little. He encouraged me to shoot for my dreams and keep pushing forward. He was truly a fighter, a legend, and I love you, Dzia Dzia. I will never forget you. Rest in peace. Love Jim

Dear Dad, Your daughters, your granddaughter, and your grandsons loved you. When I lost John, you were as devastated as I was. You were there for Katie for the first 5 years after she lost her dad. You stood with her before both of her proms, looking dapper in your AMVETS uniform like a proud Dzia-Dzia. When I remarried, you inherited another grandson, two great-grandsons, and a great-granddaughter, then we added a great-great-grandson. Wow, you had a lot of young people who loved you. When Margie Herman lost her mom, you were there at the cemetery for the unveiling; the Herman family so appreciated your presence. Margie is gone now, too. Say hello from us. You stayed true to Mom after she passed away, and now you are reunited with her. Your family will greatly miss you. Love M

Our deepest condolences to you Marie, Linda and all the family. I didn't know your father well but I know Alexander, Marcus and LeeAnn all loved him very much. I know all too well how hard it is to lose parents. What I can say is all of his suffering is over. He is pain free and united with your mother. It pains us because we are left behind to live life without them to share with, but try and keep in mind he is another angel up there watching over you and your families keep yall safe. Q: What will you miss most about Edward? A: I met Ed over a year ago when I first moved to Cape May Court House. This was a difficult move for me after many years in Staten Island NY. He was my next store neighbor. Now I am not someone who normally knocks on doors to meet people. But for some reason) I was compelled to knock and introduce myself. (Yes initially seeing him leaving the house always wearing his veteran cap also prompted me to just want to thank him for his service. Well i was so touched when I met him as he was so warm ,friendly with a beautiful spirit and genuine kindness. Occasionally I would continue to knock to say hell with brief small talk chats and always felt so so comfortable. But he was always so grateful for this. Something so easy and small to do as I thought. Learning about him through family and friends tributes, I only wish i had more time to talk to him about his life. What an amazing person. His family Linda and Ken are just the best and oh so good and kind to me as well. So glad they will continue to be my neighbors. I was graced by meeting Ed when he moved (once again as apparently he was a frequent flyer/ mover based on the short pencils) anyway, when he moved into the community I managed in 2020. My first smile came from when I heard the outgoing message on his answering machine! I knew I had a character moving in! I enjoyed our Veteran lunches and his tribute to the MIA heroes. And his stubbornness. lol He definitely made it interesting and his beautiful daughter Linda was always a joy! I have 2 woodwork clocks made by him and we have beautiful veteran pieces in the office windows. Ed will always be a smile in my memories. RIP my friend❤️ Christine Boyle

My dad and my mom were characters. Dancing around the kitchen while making dinner. I wonder if they would ever do a dance contest. All the travel and different addresses were quite the adventure with Dad. He would always get so excited about travel, Mom, Linda, and me, and the occasional family reunion he would plan. I miss him so much. I pick up the phone to call him every night at about 6:30 p.m. It's so hard not to be able to hear his voice anymore. Rest in peace, Dad, no pain, seeing Mom and all who've passed before you. Give everyone our love. Love your daughter Marie and granddaughter Kaitlyn Rae

We had the distinct pleasure of meeting Ed through our daughter Dana when she started to go out with Ed’s grandson Jim. Every family get together and holiday was definitely more fun when Ed was there. His warm and caring personality as well as his zest for life were truly amazing. The instant you met Ed you loved him. Many of our fondest memories took place in Puerto Rico when we were invited to spend a week with Ed. The laughter and special memories we made that week will be held in our hearts forever. I only knew Ed a short time but could see the way he loved his grandaughter Katie. He enjoyed coming to celebrations at my home and LOVED my Irish Soda Bread and Pea soup. May he R.I.P.
