Obituary of Robert W. Nixon
Robert W. Nixon, age 68, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly, New Jersey. He was born in Allentown, New Jersey on October 5, 1950. Bob graduated from Northern Burlington Regional High School in 1969 and then enlisted in the United States Army the following year. After serving his country, he became a Heavy Equipment Operator working for a few companies until opening his own businesses. Bob was the owner of both Nixon Mulch and R. Nixon Trucking. He was dedicated, hardworking and had great work ethic. Bob enjoyed hunting and had a love of racing. He built and raced many of his own race cars. Bob was an avid dirt modified racer in the familiar #200, competing at many area dirt tracks. In addition to his racing career, Bob took great pride in continuing the family tradition with his son Robbie. He enjoyed watching and running the race team in which his son competed in quarter midgets, micro sprints, and modifies. Bob was a member of the New Egypt Elks Lodge 2457. He was a loving husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and dear friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Bob is predeceased by his nephews Steven Reid and David Nixon, Jr.
He leaves behind his adored wife of 33 years Teresa Nixon (nee Young) of Cream Ridge; his son Robert W. Nixon, Jr. and fiancé Brittney Karpovich of Hainesport; his parents George and Louise Nixon of Debary FL; brothers, David Nixon and wife Bonnie of Deltona FL, Chris Nixon of Wrightstown; Brian Nixon and girlfriend Vicky Bell of New Egypt; brother-in-laws, Richard Young and wife Darlene of New Egypt and Tom Young and wife Jeannette of New Egypt; sister-in-laws, Linda Reid and husband Ed of Allentown and Margarete Nixon; his dog Bully; special friends, Gary Petroni of Columbus, Charlie Horner of New Egypt and Sharon Pullen of Freehold; along with several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 6PM to 9PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt NJ 08533, with an Elks Service will begin at 7:30PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 9AM to 10AM with a funeral service to begin at 10AM. Burial will follow with military honors at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown NJ 08562. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s memory to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton NJ 08053 or to a charity of your choice.
