Obituary of Patricia H. Luongo

Patricia Helen Luongo (nee Lawlor) age 88 of Marlton, NJ passed away on December 7th at the Wiley Christian Retirement Community in Marlton, NJ with her loved ones by her side.
Pat was born in Staten Island, NY and raised in the Bronx, NY. She attended high school at the Academy of Mount Saint Ursala and graduated college from the College of Mount Saint Vincent with a Bachelors Degree in English. After graduating, Pat began her teaching career at PS 42 in Manhattan until she met her beloved husband, Louis and started their family. The two had four children while residing in Berkeley Heights, NJ. Over the years, Pat loved spending time with her family and friends and had many wonderful memories of those times. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and compassion for those in need. She and her husband particularly enjoyed the company of their long time friends, Joe and Peg Alto, and had many wonderful conversations and relished playing and listening to music with them. Pat and Lou loved to travel and traveled extensively throughout the world. Pat also was an avid reader with a particular fondness for mystery novels. In addition, she cherished her time as a teacher and had many fond memories of her students at PS 42 (New York, NY) Little Flower (Berkeley Heights), Our Lady of Peace (New Providence) and Ridge Street School (Newark, NJ). She was a recipient of the New Jersey Governor’s Teacher Recognition Award.
Pat is predeceased by her husband, Louis and is survived by and missed by her four children, Raymond, Stephen (Marianne), Patricia (William) and Christopher (Patricia); grandchildren Grace, Katherine, John, Corinne, Annie and Terrence; and her sister, Geraldine Lawlor. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Kathryn Lawlor, two sisters and their husbands, Mary Jane and Prospero DePhillips, Kathleen and Harry Riconda and her brother-in-law, Robert Luongo and his wife Paula.
Due to COVID-19, services will be private but a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
