Anneliese Kopas (nee Schuermann), age 89, resident of Bordentown, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Jersey Shore Center in Eatontown, surrounded by her loved ones; her God daughter Barbara Blihar, Michael Blihar, Claudia Gordon & Markus and Jaqueline Gordon and their children, Maggie, Hailee, Nickolaus and Alec. Anneliese was born on January 24, 1935 in Steinfurth, Germany where she also met and married the love of her life, Stefan Kopas. Anneliese, an incredibly strong woman, immigrated to the United States and created a wonderful life for her family. She was hardworking and determined, not letting learning new customs, a new language or not having her beloved family close stop her from making her dreams come true. She had three children and 2 grandchildren who were her greatest treasures. She never missed an opportunity to share a story about them, and one could be assured that they were part of every conversation she had with others. Anneliese was an outstanding member of her community who not only enjoyed warm friendships with all of her neighbors, but was always ready to lend a hand. Anneliese's favorite pastimes included her love of gardening. She found joy in growing vegetables, plants and flowers. She was proud of her healthy cooking and never missed an opportunity to invite friends or family to share her garden bounty. Anneliese retired from the State of New Jersey Department of Corrections. Anneliese touched the lives of so many people across multiple generations. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her and were lucky enough to know her. Anneliese leaves behind her beloved children, Stefan Kopas, Jr. and his wife Francene, Walter Kopas and his wife Virginia, and Susan Weber; her grandchildren, Stevie, Jillian, Keegan, and Kyle; her great grandchild Ripley; her brother Heinz Scheuermann.
