Obituary of Thomas F McMahon
Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas Francis McMahon, age 80, of Englewood, FL passed away suddenly after a brief illness on the 3rd of March, 2025.
Mr. McMahon was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on Christmas Eve 1944 to the late Martin and Nora McMahon. He was a proud veteran having served in the United States Army. He was a wonderful friend to animals and will be sadly missed by his beloved dog, Mocha.
He was the devoted father of Hedy DiCarlo. He was the loving grandfather of Rocco, Niko and Giovanni. He was the dear brother of the late Catherine Rucci, Sue Donald, Marge Eastman, Joe, John and Patrick McMahon. He is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
He spent over twenty years with the Trump Organization as a casino supervisor and another twenty years as the owner of Carpet Magic. At the height of his business career, Carpet Magic cleaned the rugs and upholstery in more than half of the casinos in Atlantic City as well as all the plane interiors of the Atlantic City International Airport Spirit Airlines fleet.
“Tommy Mac” as he was known to his friends and family, was truly one of a kind. He was the life of every party, he never met a stranger and he will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He could talk to you for hours about his beloved Giants, Yankees and his grandson’s baseball teams or LSU. If you were lucky enough to take a stool next to him at The Moose or his favorite local pub, you would have a front row seat to his unique brand of story telling which would leave you in stitches. He would most definitely forget your name but he would be the first to know you if you needed a favor or a friend.
Visitation was a private St. Patrick’s Day wake for friends and family. He will be laid to rest near his brother Johnnie with Full Military Honors at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
For his Florida friends and family, of which we know there were so many, a special Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 22nd in Englewood, FL.
Loving Father, Beloved Grandfather, Wonderful Friend to Animals, Never met a Stranger, Fantastic Storyteller and Life of the Party…We will miss the light of your life Tommy Mac, Dad…Grandpa.
