Angelo Louis Smith of Leisuretown, NJ passed away April 24th, 2025 at the Samaritan Hospice in Mount Holly after a long fight with pancreatic cancer.
He came into this world in a remarkable way and he’s been since living life to the fullest ever since. Angelo left Brooklyn, New York as a young man, enlisted in the Army, and soon after married Kang Kyong Cha aka KC Smith. He became a key figure in her family, a favorite uncle, and eventually, fathered two children, Paul and Angie.
His voice and sparkling personality filled up every room he stepped into, often leaving things better than he found them. The positivity with which he lived was put into action in several church communities throughout South Jersey. He was a steadfast follower of Christ as well as a devoted husband, father to his children, and later, a loving grandfather to Rocco and Casey.
After losing KC to cancer in 2013, he later fell in love and started a new chapter of life with Kye Hwa Stein. Through this new union, he gained two more children in Kimberly and Joe, their loving spouses Bob and Pati, and several more grandchildren in Quentin, Kaili, Bobby, Bella, & Lily.
A decorated military veteran, he retired honorably as a Sergeant First Class of the US Army. He then served the state of New Jersey as a supervisory member of the DOC. He joined the Southampton Chapter of the Deborah Foundation in September 2019 and later became the President, helping them raise over one million dollars for Deborah Hospital.
