Obituary of Martin B Martin

Please share a memory of Martin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Martin B. Martin (Rodriguez), age 94, of Bayville, NJ, passed peacefully on May 21, 2025. Born on July 7, 1930, in New York City to Benjamin and Antonia Rodriguez, Martin was one of three brothers, alongside Tony and Louis. Martin married his first sweetheart, Lenore, in 1950. Following his service in the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant during the Korean War, Martin and Lenore moved to New Jersey. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised five children. He began his career as a skilled apartment complex superintendent and master locksmith. Ever industrious, Martin eventually became self-employed, running a successful business in Fords, NJ as a distributor and retailer of paper and plastic goods. During this time, Martin will be remembered as a hard worker but also one who spent time with family building snowmen and sleighing ramps in the winter and annual Martin family vacation road trips. In the early 1980s, Martin and Lenore moved to Barnegat, NJ. After Lenore’s passing a short time later, Martin eventually began a new chapter in life with his partner, Eva. The two relocated to Berkeley Township, where they founded and operated M&E Supply Company in Waretown, NJ. Martin continued leading a vibrant and eclectic life, full of creativity and community spirit. He served as a civil celebrant, officiating local weddings, and was well-known for his entertaining and educational role as Chief Rainbow at local schools and children’s birthday parties. As Chief Rainbow, he brought joy through Native American-inspired face painting, storytelling, and engaging children in building full-sized teepees. After M&E Supply Company closed, Martin returned to his locksmithing roots. He worked with Midwest Fastener, replicating keys at Home Depot kiosks throughout the area and earning several state level achievement awards—continuing his craft until the remarkable age of 93. Martin was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Tony Rodriguez. He is survived by his brother Louis; five beloved children: Stevan, Loryn, David, Mari, and Brenda; his grandchildren, Stephanie and Margaret; and his great- grandchildren: Rocco, Nicco, Maia, Haylee, Braylon, and Randy Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Martin’s life on Thursday, June 19, 11:30am at Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St, New Egypt, NJ. The service will be followed by a veteran’s burial ceremony (12:30 pm) at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
