Obituary of John R. Hesley

John “Jack” Hesley of Lehighton, PA passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Jack is the son of the late John W and Ethel Sue (Horner) Hesley of Bordentown, New Jersey. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army, while stationed in Alaska. After serving his country, Jack returned home to marry the love of his life, Donna (Kafer), who he spent 57 memorable years with. Jack drove for Herman Liedtka Trucking, and eventually branched off to own and operate his trucking company. After retirement Jack moved to Conrad, MT where he made many friends. In 2014 life brought Jack back to the East Coast, where he spent the remainder of his 83 years. In his spare time Jack could be found hunting, fishing, and racing his car, the K5, with the United Volkswagen Sprints Club. He is a life time member of the NJ Beach Buggy Assn. He is also a 48-year member of the New Egypt Elks Lodge #2457.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Donna (Kafer) Hesley, four daughters: Sue Ellen (Ron) Running, Patricia Emmons, Karen (William IV) Preston, Jacqueline (Carl) Bonser. Eight grandchildren: William Preston V, Denise (Drake) Leighton, John (Kayla) Preston, Joseph Preston, Lyndsey Becker, Jessica Yakelewicz, Jacob (Tynesha) Bonser, Caitline Bonser. Eleven great grandchildren, with two more on the way. Three nephews Timothy, Roger (Becky), David (Tisha) Kafer. One niece Michelle “Mickey” Kafer. His sister in-law Carol Kafer. His niece in-law Jennifer Kafer. Three grand nephews, one great grandnephew, two honorary nephews Jeff Leighton, Kevin Nelson, and several cousins. Jack was predeceased by two brother in-laws Bruce and Roger Kafer, two sister in-laws Sandra and Louise Kafer, His nephew Donald Kafer, His niece Amy Rainear and His son in-law William Emmons.
A graveside Services will be held July 25th at 11:30am at Jacobstown Cemetery; located at Schoolhouse Road, Wrightstown, NJ.
Memorial donations in Jack’s memory may be made to Christ Church, 130 Prince Street, Bordentown, New Jersey, 08505, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
