Rev. Joseph J. Farrell, Jr., age 78, passed away Friday, July 18 at Capital Health System in Trenton. Born in Perth Amboy, NJ to Helen and Joseph J. Farrell, Sr., Father Joe was raised in Matawan and attended Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft. Father Joe was ordained into the priesthood in 1974 and served at many parishes including St. Joseph’s in Toms River, Holy Eucharist in Tabernacle and St. Isidore the Farmer in New Egypt/Wrightstown. He was placed on leave of absence and retired in 2021. Father Joe was a graduate of Boston College and taught Philosophy at Burlington County College and Georgian Court College. Father Joe was predeceased by his parents and a brother-in-law, Roger Chaney. He is survived by a sister, Jill Chaney of New Egypt; a nephew, Chris Chaney of New Egypt; his close friend since seminary, Father Joseph Muth and many beloved parishioners at Church of the Assumption - St. Isidore the Farmer Parish. A funeral mass for Father Joe will be held on Thursday, July 31 at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel located at 1 Bishops Drive located within the Lawrence Rehab & Healthcare Center at 2381 Lawrenceville Road in Lawrenceville, NJ with a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in the Chapel. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery in New Egypt. A Memorial Mass for Father Joe will be Friday, August 1, 2025 at 11 AM at St. Isidore the Farmer Parish-Church of the Assumption, located at 28 Monmouth Road Wrightstown, NJ 08562
