Please share a memory of Beverlee to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Beverlee J. Fort, age 94, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at The Masonic Home in Burlington. She was born on November 9, 1930 on a small farm 3 ½ miles from Inavale, Nebraska to the late Mamie and Emil Mattison. Never missing a day of school, she attended a one room school through grade school going on to graduate from Inavale High School in the 3 member senior class of 1948. After graduation she worked for the National Farm Loan administration in Orleans, Nebraska for 2 1/2 years before joining the WAF (Women's Air Force) in 1952. She served in the Air Force for 2 1/2 years, during which time she met and married a fellow serviceman, Donald Fort at Norton Air Force base in San Bernardino, Ca. Due to Air Force rules at the time, she had to leave the service when their first child was born. She traveled the world for 20 years as a military spouse and raised 3 ‘Military Brats’, establishing households in New Jersey, England, Virginia, Italy, Nevada, Arizona, California, and Puerto Rico before Don retired from the military and they settled in Allentown, N.J. in 1972.
After settling in Allentown, she worked for 20 years at Majors Farm and Greenhouse enjoying every minute and making lifelong friends with Helen and Bob. Beverlee and Don enjoyed all kinds of dancing but were particularly invested in Western style square and line dancing. They also found the time and energy for a second round of serious traveling by buying a camper and spending many happy vacations traveling the country with friends and family. Beverlee and Don were members of Rose of Sharon Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jacobstown, N.J. and had found a second family there.
As part of being an efficient and creative leader of our family she developed a real talent and love for sewing and crafting. For years, she made all of her and her children's clothes. She made countless gifts, decorations, curtains and quilts! We cherished it all.
Her real joys in life were her people: her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends. She loved them and everyone was welcomed at Gram's house with a big hug, a huge smile, and probably a cup of coffee and a sandwich!
Beverlee was preceded in death by her husband Donald J. Fort, son Jeffery Lee Fort, and daughter Kylie Carroll.
She is survived, and deeply missed, by daughter, Vicki Correll and husband Steve, Son-in-law Jim Carroll, Grandson Nicholas Grover and his wife Lynsey, Granddaughters Sara Borland, Katie Correll, Emily Gehm and her husband Jameson, and Jennifer Carroll; and her beloved Great-Grandchildren, Madison and Charley Grover and Jayce and Kynslee Gehm.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering on Friday, October 17, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Tilghman Funeral Home located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533. A service will begin at 11:30 with interment to follow at BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery located at 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Beverlee’s name to The Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org)
