Obituary of Juan Laboy
Please share a memory of Juan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
With deep sorrow and profound respect, we announce the passing of Juan Laboy, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and decorated Vietnam War veteran, who passed away on October 13, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born on July 14, 1945, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, Juan lived a life marked by resilience, strength, and service to others. At a young age, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country during the Vietnam War. During his time in combat, Juan was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart, a solemn recognition of his bravery and sacrifice in the face of danger. His courage reflected a deep sense of duty—not only to his fellow soldiers but to the nation he loved.
After returning home, Juan re-enlisted—this time in the U.S. Army—where he continued to serve with distinction until his retirement. He carried the strength and discipline he learned in the military into every part of his life. Yet those who knew him best also saw his warmth, his wit, and his deep gratitude for life. Whether sharing stories from his years of service or quietly offering help when it was needed most, he left an enduring mark on every life he touched.
Juan is survived by his loving wife, Carmen; his daughter, Melissa, his son and his wife John and Rebecca; his step-family Nelson, Eva, Nelson Jr., and his cherished grandchild, Alejandro. He was preceded in death by his mother, Graciela, his father Juan and his brother, Héctor.
A funeral service will be held at Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St., New Egypt, NJ 08533, on October 27, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Military honors will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in tribute to his service and sacrifice.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Juan’s memory to Wounded Warrior Project—a cause close to his heart.
