Albert M. Hamilton, Jr., 71, of New Egypt, NJ, passed away peacefully at home
surrounded by love and family on November 9, 2025.
Born on May 11, 1954, in Munhall, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Albert and Betty Jane Hamilton. A graduate of Steel Valley High School’s Class of 1972, he began his career at U.S. Steel Corporation in Homestead, where he worked for ten years until the mill’s closure. He then moved to New Jersey, spending two years at New Jersey Steel in Sayreville, followed by ten years at Hercules in Parlin. Al later joined Merck Co. in Rahway, where he dedicated twenty-five years of service before retiring in 2021. Al enjoyed vacationing in Marco Island, Pittsburgh sports teams and watching college football – especially Clemson. Above all, he found his greatest joy in his family, taking pride in his children and grandchildren and watching them grow.
Al is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Nan Hamilton; his daughters Ashley(Dale) Brannon and Katie (Rajiv) Mallipudi; and his son Brian Hamilton. He was a devoted “Pops” to his grandchildren Zayden, Jack, Archie, and, expected to arrive soon, Matthew. He is also survived by his sister Donna (Glenn) Scolnik, his cousin Linda Mattiko, and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, November 15, 2025, for a memorial service from 2–4pm at the Tilghman Funeral Home, located at 52 Main St., New Egypt NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Esophageal Cancer Education Foundation, PO Box 821, Manalapan, NJ 07726; website: www.fightec.org, or a charity of your choice.
