Obituary of Dorothy Luciano

Please share a memory of Dorothy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dorothy F. Luciano, 77, a longtime resident of New Egypt, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Dorothy was born on December 15, 1948, in Newark, New Jersey, to the late Sadie Mackey and Richard Plumacher Sr. She was lovingly raised by her aunt, Irene Womer, who cared for Dorothy as if she were her own daughter. Dorothy had a lifelong love of playing bingo, a passion she especially enjoyed in her later years alongside her grandson, Christian. Fiercely independent throughout her life, she was a familiar and beloved presence in the community, making her daily rounds to the local grocery store, bank, and post office. Most evenings found Dorothy relaxing at home watching her favorite television shows and cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies—even if she always had to ask what channel they were on. An avid cook, Dorothy spent many years preparing meals for others, but her greatest joy came from cooking for her family. Dorothy will be remembered for her independence, warmth, and the simple joys she shared with those who loved her. Dorothy was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and cherished friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She will forever be remembered as one of the most selfless people you could ever meet, always greeting others with a warm smile. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Sadie Mackey and Richard Plumacher Sr., and by her siblings Florence Gillett, Mildred Bailey, Fredrick Plumacher, and Emily Oppenheimer. She is survived by her loving children, Roger Plumacher, James Luciano Jr. and his wife Tammy; and Dawn Luciano. She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren, Christian Luciano and his wife Kaitlyn, Cory Hodge, Kelsey Luciano, Kaylin Luciano, Haylee Luciano, and Destiny Luciano, as well as her beloved great-grandson, Hunter Simpson. She is also survived by her siblings Sadie Hucker, Richard Plumacher Jr., and Robert Plumacher. A celebration of life for Dorothy will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2026 from 12 PM to 3 PM at the Whiting Fire Station located at 120 Lacey Road, Whiting NJ 08759.
