Dorothy Mathison
January 1, 1944 to January 18, 2026
Dorothy Mathison (nee Diblin), 82, longtime resident of Cream Ridge, NJ, left this world on January 18, 2026.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Jim and daughter, Heather. She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne Itchmoney.
Dorothy was beautiful, creative, and intelligent. She was gifted with a quick, quirky sense of humor. Most importantly, Dorothy was a warrior of kindness and light. Dorothy’s fiercely generous nature shone through everything she did. She gave of herself unconditionally through helping others. She, along with her husband Jim, opened her home to anyone that needed shelter: adults, children or animals. She became a home health aide to assist individuals who were disabled or injured. Dorothy donated blood regularly, for many years. Throughout her 82 years, Dorothy’s passion as a self-taught seamstress was to create thoughtful gifts and items that comforted and assisted people from all walks of life.
She always took the time to share a kind word for everyone, strangers, friends and family alike. If there was a way for her to offer support, Dorothy was there to lift you up. Dorothy’s small gestures of generosity made a huge difference in this world. To make that impact everlasting, please carry Dorothy’s legacy of kindness forward. Listen when someone needs to talk. Offer hugs to anyone who looks like they need it. Give compliments with abandon. If someone is struggling, ask how you might help. Most importantly: Tell your people that you love them, as often as you can.
