Lawrence "Larry" Thomas Besko, 65, of Bonita Springs, Florida, passed away on January 16, 2026, at the Gulf Coast Medical Center - Trauma & Emergency Center in Fort Myers, Florida after suffering a traumatic brain injury from a sudden fall.
Larry was born on June 13, 1960, in the Perth Amboy General Hospital (now known as the Hackensack Meridian Health Raritan Bay Medical Center - Perth Amboy), New Jersey and raised in Spotswood, New Jersey.
Larry was the son of the late Edward W. and Irene (Bolesta) Besko and was a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Spotswood throughout his early years, attending 9:00 a.m. Mass.
Larry was a graduate of Spotswood High School and then briefly attended Rutgers College at Rutgers University. After moving to Florida, he continued his education at Florida Gulf Coast University.
Larry worked as an Information Technology Specialist for then Pharmacia Pharmaceutical in Piscataway, New Jersey as well as undertaking other IT opportunities for many years before retiring in 2019. Larry had been a resident of Bonita Springs for the past 25 years, previously coming from Edison, New Jersey.
Larry enjoyed traveling and spending time with his beloved Weimaraner dogs. He was a devoted member of St. Leo The Great Catholic Church in Bonita Springs and faithfully served as church usher at the 9:30 a.m. Mass for the past 15 years.
Larry is survived by his husband, Louis J. Cassi, of Bonita Springs, Florida; his brother, Edward D. Besko and his wife, Karen, of Eastampton, New Jersey; two nephews, Edward A. Besko (Godson), and Michael Besko and his wife Tanaz; one niece, Danielle (Besko) Cavanaugh and her husband Mark; one great niece, Isabella Cavanaugh; Godfather (Cousin), Stanley J. Gutkowski and his wife Lois, along with many other cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon on February 3, 2026, at the Assumption Roman Catholic Church located at 28 Monmouth Road(Route 537 Wrightstown, New Jersey. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will follow at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, New Jersey.
The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory be made to their local Humane Society.
