Belford T. Borden, 73, passed from this life on Friday, January 30th, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. Born in 1952 in Trenton, New Jersey, Belford was the son of the late Belford I. Borden and Betty C. Borden (née Stillwell). He grew up in New Egypt, New Jersey, and graduated from Allentown High School. Following his high school education, he pursued his passion for cooking by graduating from the School of Culinary Arts in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Belford worked in Atlantic City for many years before moving to East Texas in 1986. He quickly became a fixture in the culinary scene, holding positions as Head Chef in several prominent restaurants throughout the Tyler, Dallas, and Houston areas. He leaves behind five siblings: Joanne Sklar (née Departo) and Robin Anderson (née Borden), both of New Jersey; Shawn Borden of Pennsylvania; Terry Richards; and Heidi Borden, both of Texas. Belford leaves behind three children: Belford Borden of New Jersey, Hayley Borden of Hawaii, and Trevor Borden of Texas. He is also survived by his aunt, Wanda Eckley of New Jersey, as well as many grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins. Belford was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Stacey Sicola (née Bogucki), and his brothers Randy and Scott. An informal family memorial will be held at a later date.
