Obituary of John "Jack" Tully

Please share a memory of John "Jack" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with deep sadness that the Tully family announces the passing of John “Jack” Tully, beloved husband of Clare Tully for 47 years and devoted father of Kevin and John. Born and raised in Brooklyn Heights, New York, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 18 and proudly served his country before returning home to begin a long career as an elevator mechanic in New York City. In 1971, Jack and Clare moved to Waldwick, New Jersey, where they raised their family. For 25 years, Jack commuted into the city, working throughout all five boroughs to support his loved ones. He was deeply involved in his sons’ lives, coaching soccer and baseball, participating in scouting activities, and cherishing family camping trips throughout the Catskills and beyond. At age 55, Jack transitioned to a role as an elevator operator, a position he truly enjoyed for the opportunity to connect with others and build lasting friendships. Following his retirement, Jack and Clare relocated to Holiday City Berkeley, where he remained active in the community through golf league participation and volunteer work. Together, they enjoyed traveling to Ireland, Hawaii, and Alaska, creating many treasured memories. Jack took great pride in his grandchildren and found immense joy in watching them grow. He will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, sense of humor, and the meaningful friendships he formed throughout his life. His love for family gatherings with the Tully and Harrington families was evident to all who knew him. Dad we always look up to you. With Love your sons John and Kevin All arrangements are under the direction of Tilghman Funeral Home, located in New Egypt, NJ 08533.
