James Patrick “Pat” Foley, 78, of Jacobstown, New Jersey, passed away on April 28th, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, service, and joy. Born on May 18th, 1947, he grew up in Trenton and graduated from Cathedral High School in Trenton, New Jersey, later earning Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Rider College in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.
A proud Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War, Pat carried the values of honor, discipline, and service into every aspect of life. Pat devoted decades to education, beginning as an English teacher at Hightstown High School and moving into leadership roles as a curriculum coordinator, vice principal, and principal at high schools throughout New Jersey, including Bordentown High School, Atlantic City High School, Florence High School and Trenton Catholic Academy. Beyond the classroom, he guided local education policy as a school board member and president of Northern Burlington County Regional High School from 1993 to 2008.
Outside the professional sphere, Pat wore many hats: bartender, youth baseball and football coach, radio DJ, and party and event DJ with Spotlight DJs, alongside his beloved wife, Susan. Retirement didn’t slow him down— he welcomed guests at the Seashell Resort and Beach Club in Beach Haven, NJ, where his warmth and storytelling were as much a fixture as the ocean breeze. In later retirement, he and Susan, enjoyed being “snowbirds,” spending their winters in Hobe Sound, Florida.
Pat loved fishing, strumming the guitar, cheering passionately for the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, and savoring every moment at the beach. A lifelong practicing Catholic, he served as a cantor and lector at The Church of the Assumption in New Egypt, New Jersey and was a charter member of its council of the Knights of Columbus, sharing both faith and music with the community.
Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather, Pat is remembered for his boundless energy, generosity, and the ability to make every person feel seen and valued. His life was a tapestry of service, love, and joy—a legacy that will be cherished by family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
He is predeceased by his parents, Donald and Eleanor Foley, and his brother, Timothy Foley. He is survived by his wife, Susan; his brother, Dennis Foley; his sons, Ryan Foley (Rebecca), Kyle Foley (Julie), and Matthew Foley; his grandchildren, Makayla, Gabriel, and Colson, children of Kyle and Julie, and Nyssa and Madeline, children of Ryan and Rebecca; his nieces, Katie and Emily, and nephew, Joe, children of his late brother, Timothy; and his niece, Mikala Foley, daughter of his brother, Dennis.
