Janice M. Melendy 1950 – 2026
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Janice Marie Melendy (nee Skibinski), age 75, beloved wife of Clarence Roy Melendy for 55 years and devoted mother of Lisa and Kimberly.
Janice was born on December 25, 1950, to Florence and Joseph Skibinski. She graduated from John F. Kennedy Memorial High School in 1968 and married the love of her life shortly thereafter. She became the “CEO of her household” and focused on raising her two daughters. Janice was deeply involved in her children's lives - coaching soccer, leading the Girl Scouts and participating in school activities. When her daughters started school, she took a job at Rutgers University in the Accounting Department where she worked until her retirement.
Following their retirement, Janice and Roy relocated to Manchester, NJ where she remained active in the community - playing golf, tennis, pickleball, bocce and planning social events for the community. They later settled in Little River, South Carolina, where she continued to enjoy her retirement years. Janice took great pride in her grandchildren and found immense joy in watching them grow. She loved spending time with them, taking them on many trips to Disney World, Europe, cruises, camping and tropical vacations. She will be remembered for her
unconditional love, her sacrifice and nurturing presence.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence; her brothers, Joseph Skibinski (wife Dreama) and Dennis Skibinski; her daughters, Lisa Ann Curran (husband Paul Curran) and Kimberly Ann Nye (husband James Nye) and her cherished grandchildren, Brendan, Liam, Kate and Amelia Curran and Matthew Nye.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a visitation and to celebrate Janice’s life on May 14, 2026, from 4 pm to 8 pm at Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 and again on Friday, May 15, 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM with a funeral service starting at 10:30 AM. Burial will take place
at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ.
