Obituary of Doris E. Morecroft

Doris E. Morecroft, age 87, of Harrisonburg VA, formerly of NJ, passed away with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Sentara RMH Medical Center in VA. She was born in Jersey City to the late John and Henrietta Lyons. Doris later moved to Woodbridge, later to Morganville until 2003. During her time in NJ, she worked tirelessly for military veterans through the VFW Ladies Auxiliary having acted as the District 8 President 1987-88. Doris worked as a telecommunications operator for several hospitals in the area. In 1971 she married Harry Morecroft and spent 28 years dedicated to one another before his passing in 1999. Doris was extremely generous, devoted to her family and her faith and loved her country. She was an adored mother, grandmother and friend who will be deeply missed. Doris is predeceased by her parents, her brother and her devoted husband Harry. She leaves behind her 2 daughters, Patricia Nalberczinski (John) of Weyers Cave VA and Kim Ziolkowski of Bear DE, grandchildren, Chris Nalberczinski (Lora) of Harrisonburg VA, Codi and Jessie Ziolkowski both of Bear DE, and great-grandchildren Emmett and Addison Nalberczinski of Harrisonburg VA. Relatives and friends are invited to gather for a committal service on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 2PM at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 350 Province Line Rd., Wrightstown NJ 08562. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Doris’ memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research (www.stjude.org) or to aid military veterans (www.VFW.org). All arrangements are under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main St., New Egypt NJ (www.tilghmanfh.com).
