Obituary of Abbie Janet MacDougal

Abbie Janet “Jan” MacDougal, age 89, lifetime resident of New Egypt, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at home with her family by her side. She was born in Ossipee, New Hampshire on December, 13, 1933 to the late Clifton and Bertha (nee Riley) Smith. Jan owned Jan’s Hair Fashions in New Egypt where she was a licensed beautician. She was known as the “Ambassador” from Laurita Winery. Jan was a member of New Egypt Historical Society. She enjoyed reading, traveling, drinking her wine, crocheting, and playing golf. Jan was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, and friend that will be deeply missed. Jan is predeceased by her husband, John “Jack” MacDougal; her daughter, Pamela Dianne Miller; her brother and sister, Robert “Bob” Smith and Nancy French; and her dear friend, Charlie Horner. She leaves behind her four granddaughters, Janette Moore, Adriane Miller, Olivia Miller, and Kayla Miller; seven great-grandchildren; four siblings, Jimmy Smith, Peggy Ames, Madalyn Frost, and Mona Churchill; and her only favorite son-in-law, William Miller. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Jan on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 7:30 PM at Tilghman Funeral Home located at 52 Main Street, NJ 08533. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 6 PM to 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
