Elwood H. “Woody” Miller, age 82, of Rock Island, Tennessee died Friday, October 11 at NHC Healthcare in McMinnville, TN. Born in Mount Holly, he was a resident of New Egypt and Whiting before moving to Tennessee seven years ago. Woody served in the US Army during the Korean War and he was a retired chemist with Stauffer Chemical in Yardville and also Hooker Chemical. He also operated Pyramid Stained Glass Studio in New Egypt for 15 years. Woody was a past member of the Plumsted Township Board of Education, he was a Past Commander of the American Legion Post 455 and the VFW Post both in New Egypt, a Past Vice Commander and Service Officer of Ocean County American Legion, a member of the New Egypt Lions Club and a former Troop Leader for the New Egypt Boy Scouts. Woody was predeceased by a son, Eddie Miller. He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Miller; two daughters, Sherry Sherman and husband Ken of Medina, Ohio and Donna Evans of Rittman, Ohio; a step-son, Ted Preston and wife Shannon of Campaigne, Tennessee; a step-daughter, Peggy Allen and husband Donny of McMinnville, Tennessee; four brothers, Lloyd Miller of Bensalem, PA, Jack Miller and wife Gloria of Lumberton, Richard Miller and wife Kahlim of Wilmington, NC and Ralph Miller of Vincentown and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Woody will be held on Thursday, October 17 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in the Jacobstown Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
