Obituary of Joseph Vito Molinari

Joseph V. Molinari, age 67, of Cherry Hill died Sunday, October 20 at St. Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, NJ. Born in Newark, he was a resident of Cherry Hill since 1994 and formerly of Delanco. Joe was a retired math teacher for Burlington City High School and a former wresting and soccer coach. He served in the US Air Force and Air Force Reserves as a pilot during Vietnam and Kuwait, retiring in 1999 as a Lieutenant Colonel. After his military service Joe also was a private jet pilot for Hortman Aviation in Philadelphia. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, going to the beach, playing golf, going to the casinos and playing cards at the Italian American Roma Club in Burlington City. Joe was predeceased by his father, Anthony Molinari. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Richard Sullivan of Medford and Sarah and Wesley Brewer of Decatur, GA; his mother, Irene Molinari of Kearny, NJ; his beloved partner of many years, Judith Shaw of Cherry Hill; a step-son, Geoff Lavinson and wife Lorie of Wilmington, DE; a sister, Donna Cornell and husband Russ of Toms River; his former wife, Sandra Molinari of Riverside; beloved grandfather of four grandchildren, Allie and Riannon Sullivan and Charlie and Maggie Brewer and two step-grandchildren, Alex and Ethan Lavinson. Funeral services for Joe will be held on Friday, October 25 at 11:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 28 Monmouth Road (Route 537), Wrightstown, NJ 08562 with burial with military honors to follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown. Calling hours will be on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.tilghmanfh.com), and again on Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Due to cemetery restrictions, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joe’s memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org).
