Obituary of Maggie L. Horton

Marguerite L. “Maggie” Horton, age 43, of New Egypt passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Princeton, she was a life long area resident. Maggie was a 1989 graduate of Allentown (NJ) High School and had worked in the cafeteria of the Springfield Township Schools. She loved the outdoors, gardening, camping & fishing and doing crafts. But her family was the most important thing in her life and she was very involved in her children’s activities including North Hanover Twp. Boy Scouts and the North Hanover Mustangs baseball. Maggie was predeceased by her father and step-mother, Clyde and Mary Schwear and by her father-in-law, Joseph Horton, Sr. She is survived by her loving husband of 17 years (together for 27), Joseph Horton, Jr.; her two children, Joseph Horton III and Cynthia L. Horton all of New Egypt, her mother, Merlene Sloan of Jackson; a sister, Linda Marsala and husband Al of Bordentown; two brothers, Danny Jackson of Darlington, SC and Gene Jackson and wife Jill Pierson of Hamilton Twp.: her mother-in-law, Grace J. Horton of New Egypt; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Danish and husband Rich of Brick and Brenda Posey and husband Robert Allen of Chambersburg, PA and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Maggie will be held on Friday, June 20 at 12:00 Noon at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow in Jacobstown Cemetery in Jacobstown. Calling hours will be on Friday morning from 10:00 AM until Noon at the funeral home. Memorial contributions in Maggie’s name may be made to either the Melanoma Research Foundation, P. O. Box 759329, Baltimore, MD 21275-9329 (www.melanoma.org) or to a fund to benefit her children at any branch of Bank Of America.
