Carl D. Zickefoose, age 93, formerly of North Hanover Twp. passed away Saturday, March 21 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. Born in Adrian, WV, he was a longtime resident of North Hanover Township before moving to Mt. Holly 2 years ago. Carl was a distinguished career soldier, serving 24 years in the Army, retiring as a SGT 1st Class. He had a top security clearance and worked with many high ranking officials during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. After his military retirement, he worked at Salem Limousine for 18 years. Carl was well known for his hand made walking canes which were always the highest bid item at the Zickefoose family reunions. He was a most unique and interesting man who was well liked by all who met him. Carl is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ethel Zickefoose; 3 brothers, Russell Zickefoose of Millersburg, OH, Bernard Zickefoose of Southington, OH and Wayne Zickefoose of Green River, WY and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Carl will be held on Friday, March 27 at 10:00 AM at the Chapel of the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line in Wrightstown. Those attending the service are asked to meet at 9:30 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 to drive to the cemetery in procession. Due to cemetery restrictions on flowers, memorial contributions in Carl’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
