Martin R. Day, age 78, of Hillsborough passed away Monday, June 8 at RWJ University Hospital Somerset in Somerville. Born in Plainfield, he was a resident of Hillsborough since 1976. Martin served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was employed at Bridgewater Volvo. Martin was an avid sports fan, especially the NY Yankees and NY Giants. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Martin is survived by his wife, Joan (Conger) Day; four sons and daughters-in-law, Danny & Jill Day of Lancaster, PA, Brian & Wendy Day of Bangor, PA, Kevin & Melissa Day of Hillsborough, NJ and Shannon & Vilma Day of Bridgewater, NJ; a brother, Robert Day of Willingboro, NJ; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean & Eugene Lazicky of East Millstone, NJ and Marilee & George Brisebois of Manville, NJ; six grandchildren, Danny, Christian, Alicia, Zachary, Kevin and Stephanie Day. Funeral services for Martin will be held on Thursday, June 11 at 10:00 AM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road in Newtown, PA under the direction of the Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt, NJ (www.tilghmanfh.com).
