Obituary of Mildred L. Powell

Mildred Louise Powell, of Columbus, NJ, was born on April 11, 1945 to Carl and Charlotte Huebler Pittman. She passed away peacefully on September 12, 2016. Millie, as her friends fondly called her, loved her children and grandchild, cooking, gardening and going to Long Beach Island.
She was proud to be in the first graduating class of Northern Burlington High School. She attended Rider College in Trenton and worked at NJ Manufacturers.
Millie married Ronald E Powell of New Egypt, NJ on May 11, 1968 and was a loving and devoted wife to him for twenty-seven years. She had two children. The eldest Christine E. Powell, a Social Worker, currently resides in Medford, NJ and Brian E. Powell, who lives in Presidential Lakes and continues to run the family business in Columbus. Brianna L. Powell, fifteen, is her very special and precious Granddaughter.
Millie worked for Mansfield Township, in the Municipal Building, when it was still in town. She and Ron established Powell Fuel Co Inc, in 1978. She was Secretary for the family business the majority of her working life. When Ron passed in 1995, she continued to see to the success of the company. It remains a large part of our family today.
Millie was a member of the Columbus Grange for fifty-five years. When Ron was alive, she was an Elk-Mate. Millie was a member of Columbus Baptist Church, a Christian, baptized and saved by our Lord Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her sister Jean Wainwright and brother-in–law Fritz Wainwright. Brother Carl Huebler is deceased. Sister-in-law Marion Huebler currently resides in Connecticut. Millie was loved and adored by several nieces and nephews, and their children. She was Blessed to have many in this life who called her Friend.
Relatives and friends are invited join the family for visitation on Sunday, September 18, 2016 from 2PM to 4PM at Columbus Baptist Church, located at 24260 W. Main Street, Columbus NJ 08022. A Celebration of Life will begin at 3PM with Pastor John Grove officiating. Interment will follow the service at Emley’s Hill Cemetery in Cream Ridge. Food and fellowship will follow the burial at the New Egypt Elks Lodge.
Memorial contributions can be made to Columbus Baptist Church or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The family would like to thank those in the helping/healing profession at HUP, Virtua Mt Holly and Samaritan Hospice for all the care and support they provided. Thank you to family and friends for all of the prayers, cards, phone calls, meals and encouragement which enabled us to walk this journey with Mom in Love, Gratitude and Grace.
