Anita Evans Taylor, age 97, of Damascus, MD, formerly of Wrightstown passed away Saturday, October 22. Born December 12, 1918, she was a Central Jersey resident until 1996 following her husband’s death.
Anita graduated from Bordentown High School in 1936 as Salutatorian of her graduating class. Upon graduation, she served as Secretary of the Columbus, NJ Grange until her first child was born. Anita married Roy R. Taylor on May 30, 1942 and lived on Roy’s Dairy Farm on Sykesville Road in Wrightstown, NJ. She was a homemaker, raising 5 children by getting them off to school on school buses for 29 years from the first to the last child (1948-1977). Following her husband’s death, Anita moved to Maryland and lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Marge and Don Lentzen, since 1996. She was a choir member at Wesley Grove United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg, MD from 1997-2008. She also was active at the Damascus Senior Center from 1996-2008 and enjoyed many years of activities with her senior friends. Anita enjoyed her last years traveling with Marge and Don to FL, AZ, CT, NJ, PA, NC, VT, Bahamas and many other vacationing spots for visiting family and friends. She also enjoyed going antiquing with her two daughters, Margie and Doris. Anita’s love has touched the hearts of her many friends, family and strangers.
Anita was predeceased by her husband, Roy Rosha Taylor; her parents, Benjamin R. Kirby and Anna Evans Kirby; her siblings, Edna Evans Kirby, B. Roger Kirby and Raymond Kirby and a grandson, Benjamin Roy Taylor. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Raymond Roy Taylor (Maureen) of Phoenix, AZ, Harry Stacy Taylor (Patricia) of Wrightstown, NJ, Marjorie Anne Taylor Lentzen (Donald) of Damascus, MD, Doris Jean Taylor Field (Gerald) of Tall Timbers, MD and Fred Benjamin Taylor (Renee’) of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren plus two step-grandsons and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation for Anita will be held on Saturday, October 29 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.TilghmanFH.com), with graveside funeral services to follow in the Upper Springfield Cemetery on Highland Road in Wrightstown, NJ.
