Obituary of James P. Taylor

James Patrick Taylor, age 58, of New Egypt, passed away with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Capital Health Center in Hopewell, NJ. He was born in Kearny NJ to the late Robert J. and Catherine M. Taylor. James enlisted in the United States Navy after finishing high school and served for nearly three years. He was a very proud Veteran and was extremely active in multiple community groups. James was a lifelong member of the VFW Post 2314 in Carteret NJ. He was a member of McKaig-Test-Mullen American Legion Post 455, were he served as Second Vice Commander, House Chairman and Canteen Chairman. James also served as the Sgt. at Arms for the Ocean County Executive Committee. He was a Charter member of the Legion Riders Chapter 455 serving as the Historian. James was also the Past Squadron Commander for the Sons of American Legion Squadron 455. He was a dedicated husband, father and friend, who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
James is survived by his adored wife Gillian Taylor; his two sons, Jonathon Taylor and Ryan Taylor; his two brothers, Robert Taylor and Kevin Taylor; three grandchildren and another on the way; his dog Wookie, who is his service dog and many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 5PM to 9PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt NJ 08533, and again on Thursday, November 17, 2016 from 11:30AM to 12:30PM. A funeral service will follow at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in James’ memory to the American Liver Foundation, 1528 Walnut Street, Suite 2020, Philadelphia, PA 19102.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to James’ friends from the American Legion Post 455, especially Commander Dave Snody, Ocean County Commander Tony (Anthony) Gladden, Ocean County Auxiliary President Charline Gladden, SAL Commander Harold Francis and Legion Rider Chapter President Doug Muraglia.
