George J. Ryan, age 86, of Cream Ridge died Friday July 20 at Bartley Health Care in Jackson. Born in Bayonne with his twin brother, Edward on December 18, 1920. George attended the Columbus School and Carteret High School. He had been a resident of Cream Ridge for the past 18 years and formerly of Sewaren (Woodbridge Twp.), NJ. George was an assembler for L. J. Wing Co. in Linden. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. He also served in WWII as a Petty Officer (Torpedoman) with the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Golf (DD247) and the USS Clark (DD361), was a member of the Carteret American Legion and the Church of the Assumption in New Egypt. He was the son of the late Edward and Margaret (Flynn) Ryan, and brother of the late Edward Ryan, Richard J. Ryan and Isabelle Ryan. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bertha (Skowron) Ryan of Cream Ridge; one son and daughter in-law George P. and Mary Ryan of Sewaren; two daughters and a son in-law Karen and Dean Wasylyk of Edison and Elaine Anderson of Cookstown; four brothers Thomas Ryan of Monroe, James Ryan and his wife Goldie, Donald Ryan and his wife Rose and Robert Ryan and his wife Joan all of Carteret; one sister Jane and her husband Francis of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren, Timothy, Alicia and Ciara Ryan and 40 nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 24 at 10:00 AM at the Church of the Assumption, 76 Evergreen Road in New Egypt, with Father Joseph Farrell, officiating. Burial will be in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Calling hours will be on Monday, July 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com). Due to cemetery restrictions on flowers, memorial contributions in George?s memory may be made to Bartley Health Care, 175 Bartley Road, Jackson, NJ 08527.
