Obituary of Charles Russell Foulks

Charles Russell “Russ” Foulks passed away Sunday, July 2 at home.  Russ was born in New Egypt, NJ on October 12, 1927. He was a 4 year Navy Veteran and served on the destroyer U.S.S. Benner DDR 807 during the Korean War. After leaving the Navy, he works on the Joint Base M.D.L. as a meat cutter and retired after 32 years. He then worked 10 years for the Plumsted Twp. BD of ED as a bus driver and custodian.

Russ was an active member of the New Egypt United Methodist Church. He loved gardening, hunting and fishing. His hunting and fishing adventures were joint ventures that he shared with his brothers, his nephews and especially his son, John.

He was the son of the late Chester and Emma Foulks. He was also predeceased by his sister Thelma and his twin Alice and brothers Ivins, Earl and Donald.

He is survived by his sister Shirley and brother Bill. He will truly be missed by his loving wife of 66 years, Phyllis (Dancer) Foulks; daughter Valerie Carlisle and husband Tom; son John Foulks and wife Karen; his grandchildren Rebecca Wasilewski, Sara Foulks and Bryan Carlisle and his great-grandchildren Tyler and Emily Wasilewski. He will also be missed by a great number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 8 at 1:00 PM at the Atkinson Hall of the New Egypt United Methodist Church on Fort Avenue in New Egypt.  Calling hours will be on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Atkinson Hall.  Burial in Jacobstown Cemetery will be private at a later date at the convenience of the family.
