Obituary of Gary C. Southard, Sr.

Gary C. Southard, Sr., age 62, of Cookstown passed away Tuesday, November 21 at Lourdes Medical Center in Willingboro.  Born in Trenton, he was a lifetime Cookstown area resident.

Gary was employed as a truck driver for Belasco Petroleum in Cookstown and with Lee Transportation in Elmer, NJ.  He also was an exempt member of the Cookstown Vol. Fire Co. and enjoyed hunting and playing softball.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, George and Julia Southard and his siblings, Douglas, George and Judith.  He is survived by his wife, Melissa (Kisner) Southard; a daughter, Gracin Southard of Cookstown; two sons, Gary Southard, Jr. of Calhoun County, SC and Travis Southard and wife Amanda also of Calhoun County, SC; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Gary will be held on Tuesday, November 28 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533 (www.TilghmanFH.com), with burial to follow in Jacobstown Cemetery.  Calling hours will be on Monday evening, November 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and again on Tuesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Gary’s memory can be to the Gracin Southard Trust Fund to benefit his daughter and sent to the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533.
