Obituary of Gerald J. Parker
Gerald J. “Jerry” Parker, age 83, of Berlin passed away Wednesday, February 14 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Juliustown, he was a longtime resident of Jobstown, before moving to North Carolina for 17 years and then to Berlin for the past 4 years.
Jerry proudly served in the US Army from 1957-1959 and he retired as the Chief of Police for Springfield Twp., Burlington County. In his early years Jerry worked as a carpenter for Presidential Homes in Browns Mills. He was an exempt member of the Jobstown Vol. Fire Company. Jerry was a workaholic who always kept busy and also enjoyed flying R/C model airplanes.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Franklin and Dorothy (nee Paul) Parker and by three siblings, Jack Parker, Dorothy Gower and Frank Parker. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Ruth (nee Hopkins) Parker; a daughter, Joanne Parker of Berlin; a brother, Paul Parker of Port Orange, FL; a granddaughter, Tara Cestare and husband Vincent of Berlin; three great grandchildren, Dakotah, Miranda and Makayla Cestare; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Jerry will be held on Tuesday, February 20 at 12:00 Noon at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533. Calling hours will be on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until noon at the funeral. Private burial services will be held at a later date at the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in North Hanover Township.
