Daniel Oakerson, age 85, of Browns Mills died Saturday, August 25 at Whiting Heath Care in Whiting. Born in Cream Ridge, he was a resident of New Egypt for 30 years before moving to Browns Mills 27 years ago. Mr. Oakerson was a retired carpenter with The New Jersey Carpenter?s Union Local 1489 in Burlington. He was a member and past elder of the Plumsted Presbyterian Church in New Egypt and he was a member of the local chapter of Deborah. Son of the late Albert and Mabel Oakerson and brother of the late Charles, Clarence and Marvin Oakerson and Ethelyn Maginnis, he is survived by his wife, Virginia Cook Oakerson; a daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Robert Bryant of New Egypt; two sisters, Doris Lawrence of New Egypt and Evelyn Gaiser of Whiting; a granddaughter and her husband, Donna Bryant Winkowski and Ray Winkowski, Jr. of Chesterfield; a great grandson, Collin Winkowski and twin great granddaughters, Lauren and Nicole Winkowski. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 28 at 8:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com). Calling hours will be on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
