Please share a memory of Donna to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donna M. Dobbins, age 48, of Browns Mills passed from this life Monday, September 3 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly after a short, but gallant battle with cancer. Born in Aliquippa, PA, she lived most of her life in Tennessee and other states during her military career before moving to Browns Mills 13 years ago. Donna was a retired SMSGT with the US Air Force serving 26 years. She was proud to serve her country, from the conflict in Grenada to Operation Iraqi Freedom. It didn't matter if she was flying in the areas or performing support at home she always gave 110 % to the cause. Over the years she totally enjoyed training and mentoring the young Airmen, her ""kids"" may not have realized it but she was always so proud of them when they succeeded. Donna Dobbins was a true Airman in the greatest sense of the word. Donna was a member and Past Commander of VFW Post 6590 in Cookstown, a member of VFW Post 6590 Ladies Auxiliary and a Past Jr. Vice Commander of District #11. Donna loved good times and helping people. She enjoyed the military, a cold beer with friends, fishing and above all, her work with the hundreds of Veterans she associated with; especially the ones she could help. Donna had a very big heart, proven many times through her Veterans of Foreign Wars accomplishments, work with the young airmen, and friendships. This heart made this caring individual, one of lif's truly beautiful people, but her greatest asset by far was that in this world of ""me"", she was always true to her friends. She meant so much too so many and her absence in our lives will greatly missed. Daughter of the late Max J. and Evelyn Dobbins; she is survived by a sister, Teresa Williams & husband Scott of Chesney, SC; a brother, Roger Dobbins & wife Teresa of Chattanooga, TN; a very special friend, Joel Montgomery of Wrightstown; a niece, Heather Penny & husband Josh of Chattanooga, TN; a nephew, Colton Dobbins of Chattanooga, TN; her great nephews, Calaeb, Braeden, Camden and Branson and many other friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 10 at 1:00 PM at McGuire AFB Chapel, 2503 East Arnold Avenue on McGuire AFB. Interment will military honors will follow at the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Donna?s memory may be made to The Humane Society of the US, Mid-Atlantic Regional Office, 270 US Highway 206, Suite 303, Flanders, NJ 07836 or to Freedom Alliance, 22570 Markey Court, Suite 240, Dulles, VA 20166.
