Obituary of Harry A. Eggleston

Harry A. Eggleston, age 77, a lifelong resident of Jobstown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at Virtua Rehab in Mount Holly. He was born at home in New Egypt on February 22, 1941 to the late Albert and Verna Eggleston. Harry married the love of his life, Doris Hargrove, on June 2, 1962 and the couple had two children. He owned and operated H. Eggleston and Son Excavation for over 40 years before passing the business down to his son.

 

Harry was the former Sgt. of the Springfield Township Police Department, a life member of the Springfield Township Fire Company and coached little league and Babe Ruth baseball in Springfield for many years. Besides spending time with his family, his most favorite thing to do was hunt. Harry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be deeply missed.

 

Harry is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Verna Eggleston (nee Dunfee). He leaves behind his adored wife Doris L. Eggleston of Jobstown; his son Bryan Eggleston and wife Sharon of Juliustown; his daughter Lynn McDermott of West Chester PA; sister Kathleen Wickwire and two granddaughters, Rachel and Lauren McDermott.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 9AM to 11AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, located at 52 Main St., New Egypt NJ 08533. A funeral service will begin at 11AM with burial to follow at the Upper Springfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Harry’s memory to the Juliustown United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 195, Juliustown NJ 08042.
