Senior Chief Joseph L. Moschera, Sr. (US Navy Retired), age 85, of North Hanover Township died Friday, December 7 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly. Born on August 26, 1922 in Lawrence, NY, he was a lifetime area resident. Joe?s family moved to the Moschera Farm when he was 4 years old where he learned to hunt and fish. Joe the farm boy married his childhood sweetheart, Pearl Sager Moschera. He joined the Navy during WWII and served in the Pacific and later transferred to NAS Lakehurst where he was a Flight Engineer on the Blimps. Joe also worked for the Navy Jet Propulsion Lab at Willow Grove, Trenton and Lakehurst. After his retirement, Joe also worked at the Fort Dix Golf Course. He was a member and Past Master of the Pyramid Masonic Lodge #92 of the F&AM in New Egypt, a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 455 in New Egypt and had also served on the North Hanover Township Planning Board. Joe liked to farm and was an avid hunter and fisherman and was one of the founders of the Lakehurst Hunting & Fishing Conservation Club and the Fort Dix Conservation Club. Son of the late August and Anna (O?Neil) Maschera, step-father of the late Larry Johnson and brother of the late Margaret Halliwell, Thomas, August and Larry Moschera, he is survived by his wife of 60 years, Pearl (nee Sager) Moschera; a his children and their spouses, Nancy & Murrell Worth of Paulden, AZ, Joseph & Shirley Moschera, Jr. of Tucson, AZ, Linda & Eddie Vaughan of Little Rock, AR, Mark D. & Terri Moschera of North Hanover Twp. and Shawn T. & Diana Moschera of North Hanover Twp.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James & Barbara Moschera of North Hanover Twp. and Alden & Gladys Moschera of Jupiter, FL; four sisters, Kay Worth & husband Jim , Alice Trapani, Irene Walden and Marion Halliwell all of Jupiter, FL ; fourteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 11 at 11:00 AM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com), with burial to follow at the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery in Jacobstown. Calling hours will be on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home with Masonic Services at 7:00 PM.
