John Dekovitch, age 81, longtime of Columbus, formerly of Chesterfield, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020, peacefully at home. He was born in Taylor, Pennsylvania to the late Charles and Eva (Coptch) Dekovitch on January 15, 1939. John owned his own auto body shop, Aladdin’s Lamp in Trenton and Wrightstown. He was a member of the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Trenton. John proudly served in the US Navy from 1956-1957. John owned, trained and raced Standardbred horses at his farm, the Chesterfield Standardbred Horse Farm. He liked to tinker around, and work in his yard. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother that will be deeply missed. John is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Eva (nee Coptch) Dekovitch; his son, Jason Dekovitch and his siblings, Julia “Jay”, Andy, William, George, Michael, Joseph, and Helen. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 15 years, Michele (nee Barkholz) Dekovitch; three sons, Joel Devokitch and wife Jackie of Fleetwood, PA, Shawn Devokitch of Jacksonville, NJ, and Jeffrey Devokitch of Columbus, NJ; his eight grandchildren, Blaine, Mary Kadien, Luke, Julia, Joshua, Jarred, Jenna, and Johnny; his three sisters, Ann Potinic of Cranbury, NJ, Mary Georgeiw of Ewing, and Eleonor Pavlik of Willingboro and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service for John on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 2:00PM at his residence, with a rain date of Sunday, August 2, 2020 at 2:00PM. All arrangements are under the direction of Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt, NJ.
