John C. Thornberry, age 66, of Little Egg Harbor, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ. He was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Linn and Sophia Thornberry on October 1, 1953. After high school, John enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his county during the Vietnam War. John worked as a maintenance man at a camp ground for several years. He had always enjoyed being outdoors. John was proud of his Native American heritage, had a strong love for the Military and was a member of the American Legion in Little Egg Harbor. He was a loving father, brother and friend who will be deeply missed. John is predeceased by his parents, Linn and Sophia Thornberry (nee Norberg). He leaves behind his son, John B. Thornberry of Philadelphia, PA; his three brothers, Michael, Chet and Ray; his sister, Ann; and several friends. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 1PM to 1:30PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533. A funeral service will begin at 1:30PM. Interment will be held at a later date at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, NJ. Face coverings and social distancing are required with a maximum of 25 people inside the funeral home at a time.
