Rosemary (nee McElroy) Gatto, age 53, longtime resident of New Egypt and formerly of Woodbridge, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 2021 peacefully at home with her family by her side. She was born in Perth Amboy on May 22, 1968 to the late Gerald and Marilyn (Hoban) McElroy. Rosemary worked as an X-Ray technician at JFK Hospital in Edison. She enjoyed her many trips to Disney, cooking for her family, boating, and taking vacations at the lake. Rosemary loved horses and all animals. She was truly special and lit up a room with her smile, quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. She was a parishioner at the Church of the Assumption. Rosemary was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend that will be deeply missed. Rosemary is predeceased by her parents, Gerald and Marilyn McElroy; and her mother-in-law, Arlene Gatto. She leaves behind her high school sweetheart and beloved husband of 29 years, Anthony Michael Gatto of New Egypt; her two children, Anthony Michael Gatto Jr. of New Egypt, and Alison Rose Gatto of New Egypt; her four siblings, Eileen Popovich and husband Michael of Woodbridge, Susan Sherman and husband Lonnie of East Northport, NY, Erin Surowitch and husband Donald of South Amboy, and Jerry McElroy and wife Sandy of Chesapeake, VA; her father-in-law, Thomas Gatto; her sister-in-law, Patricia Gatto of Archibald, PA; her brothers-in-law, James Gatto of Archibald, PA, Thomas Gatto of Florida, and Vincent Gatto and wife Sharon of Long Beach Island; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, June 11, 2021 from 4 PM to 8 PM at Tilghman Funeral Home located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Church of the Assumption - St. Isidore the Farmer Parish located at 28 Monmouth Road (Route 537), Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
