Claudia James, age 81, longtime area resident of North Hanover, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021 at Deborah Heart and Lung Center in Browns Mills. She was born in Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada on February 6, 1940 to the late Reginald and Mary (Benoit) Gabriel. Claudia enjoyed her crosswords puzzles, going shopping and doing ceramics. She was a parishioner at the Church of the Assumption. Claudia was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend that will be deeply missed. Claudia is predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph H. James III; and her parents Reginald and Mary Gabriel. She leaves behind her two daughters, Mary Valachovic and husband Guy of Browns Mills and Elizabeth Re and husband Albert of North Hanover; her two grandchildren, Joseph H. Valachovic and wife Lindsey, and Christopher M. Johnson; her great-granddaughter, Kendall R. Valachovic; her brother Reginald Gabriel of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada; and her sister Pat Bodetko of Littleton, CO. Family and friends are invited to gather for a graveside service on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery located at 400 Woolsey Street, Trenton, NJ 08610. All arrangements are under the direction of Tilghman Funeral Home, located in New Egypt, NJ.
