Bernhardt A. “Bernie” Sander, age 82, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2021 at The Manor, LTC in Freehold Township. He was raised in Cream Ridge, and a longtime resident of New Egypt. He was born on October 14, 1938 to the late August C. and Wilhelmina (nee Recktn) Sander. Bernie retired after 36 years working at DeLaval in Trenton as a Machinist in the Turbine Division. For the last 15 years, he found his second career working at Wal-Mart in Freehold as the Night Maintenance Supervisor. Bernie was a loving father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend that will be deeply missed. Bernie is predeceased by his beloved wife Shirley L. Sander; infant daughter Deborah; his son-in-law Richard Paris; his parents August C. and Wilhelmina Sander; two brothers, Howard and Harold “Chris” Sander. He leaves behind his son, Shawn A. Sander of Monett, MO; his step-son, William “Bill” Tetlow of Boston, MA; his two step-daughters, Bernadette (Tetlow) Paris of Ballwin, MO, and Linda Tetlow of St. Ann, MO; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his sister Evelyn Doherty of Cream Ridge; and many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services and burial are being held privately at Cream Ridge Cemetery. All arrangements are under the direction of Tilghman Funeral Home located at 52 Main Street, New Egypt, NJ 08533
