Obituary of William Miller

Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
William ?Bill? Miller, age 73, of Cookstown entered into rest on February 27 at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton. Born and raised in Cookstown, he was a lifelong resident of the area. Bill grew up shining shoes for the soldiers stationed at Ft. Dix. He worked the cranberry bogs in New Egypt for years employed by Ocean Spray in Bordentown. Bill then started his own business, Wm. Miller & Sons, to which he dedicated his days. In recent years, he dedicated his afternoons to the joy of farming and swinging on the porch at Sundown Farm in Cookstown. It was the Base that brought him his life-long love, Betsy ?Ann? when her father was assigned to Ft. Dix. The couple recently celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary. Bill proudly raised two sons, Billy and Patrick and four daughters, Sharon (Atkinson), Ruthann (Harper), Kathleen (Rowley) and Heidi (Coker). Bill?s pride in life was found in what some may call countless grandchildren. But Bill knew the count and each counted. There were 18 grandchildren, Chenoa, Jamie, Crystal, Billie Sue, Janette, Joshua, Adriane, Kyle, David, Patrick, Olivia, Matthew, Justin, Dylan, Rebecca, Kayla, Owen and Lauren and 12 great grandchildren, Robie, Colton, Wyatt, Thomas, Lylah, Drew, Tyler, Madalyn, Grace, Addyson, Aubrianna and Ethan. In addition Bill is survived by his daughters-in-law, Pamela and Jodi Miller, his sons-in-law, Ernie Atkinson, Mike Harper, Mark Rowley and Mark Jumper, his sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Larry Maguire of Andrews, NC and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Bill was a long-time member of the Cookstown United Methodist Church and was proud to see his family meet him there each week. All are welcome to join the family for his funeral service at the church at 16 Main Street in Cookstown on Monday, March 3 at 11:00 AM officiated by Rev. Norman Eckley. Burial will follow in the Jacobstown Baptist Cemetery in Jacobstown. There will be calling hours on Sunday evening, March 2 from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com) and again on Monday morning at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Memorial contributions in Bill?s memory may be made to the Cookstown United Methodist Church, 16 Main Street, Cookstown, NJ 08511. Bill will live on in the hearts and smiles of his ?kids? who he taught how to love ? fully and completely ? until he meets each at the ?East Gate?. The family was blessed to have him and will strive to make him proud.
