George A. Garey, age 84, of North Hanover Twp. died Monday, March 10 at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. Born in Trenton, he had been a resident of North Hanover Twp. for the past 15 years and formerly of Chesterfield. George was a veteran of WWII serving in the Marines as a Platoon Sergeant and received the Purple Heart for wounds received in action. George was retired from the Brummel Slaughterhouse in Trenton and also worked for NADE Auto Auction in Bordentown. George was predeceased by his parents, William and Elizabeth Garey, his sisters, Elizabeth Kreiger and Ruth Garey and brothers, Harry and William Garey. He is survived by his wife, Edna Garey; his children and their spouses, George & Sue Garey, Helen Devine & Bob Stout, Carol & Fred Schaffener, Mary Ellen & James Lockett, Tom & Trish Garey, Norman & Rosemary Romberger, Sandy & Joseph O?Neil, Marty & Floann Howe, John & Midge Banuat, Dale & Bonnie Garey, Bobby & Barbara Larson and Tommy Larson & Melissa Roscoe; Pop-Pop?s Buddy, Joshua Garey; two sisters, Marion Riley and Dorothy Jordy; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews and his best friends, John & Sara Tomko. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14 at 12:00 Noon at the Tilghman Funeral Home, 52 Main Street in New Egypt (www.tilghmanfh.com). Burial will follow in the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arneytown. Calling hours will be on Friday morning from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in George?s name may be made to the Jacobstown First Aid Squad, C/O North Hanover Twp. Municipal Bldg., 41 Schoolhouse Road, Jacobstown, NJ 08562.
