Brinberg, Sylvia “Tippi” (Weiss), - 93, of Jackson, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2022 with family by her side. Tippi was born in NYC on November 18, 1928 to Kalman and Julia Weiss. Tippi was predeceased by her parents and siblings. She was the youngest of a large loving family, sharing fun and life with two brothers and five sisters. Tippi grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. She loved sharing stories of growing up above her father’s Dry Goods Store, in one of the few “flats” with running water. Later, Tippi’s family moved to Washington Heights where she graduated from George Washington High School. When the soldiers came home from WWII, Tippi met the love of her life, Edward G. Brinberg, who swept her off her feet. Married on November 27, 1948,they shared almost 74 years of marriage together. Tippi was a devoted, loving mother of three children in Plainview, Long Island. She was involved in many community activities, hosting holidays for her large extended family, door knocking for her favorite political candidates, selling cosmetics and later working in the accounting department at Field Brother’s men’s clothing store, keeping her quite busy. In 1985, Ed and Tippi moved to Leisure Village West, in Lakehurst, NJ. She was President of the LVW Yiddish Club, President of the LVW Tennis Club after learning to play tennis in her 70’s. Her favorite activity was performing for the LVW social club in full costume, performing many musicals of Broadways best. She was very gifted in the arts, enjoying painting and ceramics and theater as well as knitting and crocheting. As an avid reader, mah jong and card player she was a fierce competitor in pinochle, and bridge. Her grandchildren loved to visit her in Leisure Village and were included in family trips to Myrtle Beach, SC each year. Tippi leaves behind her beloved husband of 73 years, Ed, her three children, daughter Jill Grunewald and husband, Fred; her daughter Karen Michelle; and son, Gary and wife, Karen Marie; five grandchildren, Jason, Kassandra, Jeffrey, Julie and Faith; nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 10:00 am at BGWCD Veteran Memorial Cemetery located at 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. Family and friends attending the service please meet at the cemetery entrance at 9:45am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sylvia’s name can be made to the Jewish War Veterans - Jewish War Veterans of the U.S.A. (jwv.org) Shiva will be from 12:30 pm until 4 for eight days following the funeral luncheon at Bella Terra AL – 2 Kathleen Drive, Apt 370, Jackson NJ 08527
