Karen E Thompson peacefully passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Karen was born on August 19, 1941 in Trenton NJ and grew up in Lawrence where she resided and raised her family until moving to New Egypt. Karen spent her summers in Pt Pleasant Beach where she loved going out fishing on the family boat, The Karen Lee. As an adult, Karen enjoyed stock car racing and became one of the few women to fully participate by racing in Powder Puff races. Karen won numerous trophies in stock car racing to which she was very proud of. Karen also loved the outdoors spending numerous trips camping and fishing with her family. Karen was extremely independent and lived her life on her own terms and could often be seen tooling around her property on her tractor. She also enjoyed reading, watching NASCAR, collecting and raising her many English Bulldog rescues, but her family was always most important to her. Karen was predeceased by her parents Tom and Emily Baily Sr; her brothers Tom Jr (Phyllis) and Bill (Joan). She was also predeceased by her daughter Sherry Johnson. Karen is survived by her son and daughter in law, Jon and Mary Szolomayer; her son in law Kurt Johnson; her grandchildren Holly (Dan) Fennessy, Lauren Szolomayer and Colton Johnson; many nieces, nephews and cousins and her French Bulldog Nitro. Arrangements are under the direction of Tilghman Funeral Home in New Egypt. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
